Welcome to First Grade

OVERVIEW

First grade at Dwight is a happy place to work and learn. This year is a critical year for early literacy development. It's exciting to watch as students enter with limited literacy knowledge and leave as successful readers and writers! It can be argued that more growth occurs in reading in first grade than any other grade level. We believe first grade is special because it sets students up for future success in school and life. The work of first-graders is important work that will follow them for the rest of their lives.
